Standing nearly 19 inches tall, this richly cast copper-alloy figure depicts Queen Maya Devi, mother of the Buddha, at the sacred moment of Siddhartha's birth at Lumbini. Posed in graceful tribhanga, her raised right arm reaches for the now-absent sala branch while her left hand offers vitarka mudra. Adorned with beaded necklaces, foliate crown, and finely chased dhoti upon a lotus base. Indo-Nepalese workshop, late 20th century. Warm coppery patina; hollow cast.
